Marathon man Tom conquers London again

Congratulations to Tom Harrison for completing his fifth successive London Marathon in April. He reports: “I came in at 4hr 26min 02sec, exactly six minutes faster than last year, but 14 minutes outside my 2006 personal best. In spite of being faster than last year, I dropped from 15th to 26th out of the 106 men in the 70-74 age group. I was going fine in the first half but then developed real trouble with my hip which really slowed me down.
‘’Halfway through the heavens opened and then the temperature dropped and the wind got up, so we were not only soaked, but cold as well. One of the girls running with us was taken off with hypothermia! I was really happy to get into the pub afterwards [where runners for Help the Aged were invited to an after-race party] and get into some dry clothes.’’
